ISO 14001: 228 Charter Members in EPA Achievement Track in 2000

In June 2000, the US EPA launched its Performance Track program with the first application period (July 5-September 30) for its National Environmental Achievement Track. This resulted in the approval of 228 facilities in 38 states and Puerto Rico as Charter Members of NEAT, which involves a 3-year renewable EMS commitment from participating facilities. In this examination of NEAT, information is provided on the program’s requirements, the resources and benefits available through the program and how they relate to an ISO 14001-based EMS as well as information on Stewardship Track, a second level of Performance Track to be launched in the summer of 2001.
