China Looks Up When It Comes to Business and Quality

At the end of 2000, China and its territories accounted for more than 28,000 certificates of registration to ISO 9001/2/3, covering QMSs in diverse sectors ranging from academics to automotive to telecommunications. Erik V. Myhrberg had the opportunity to see firsthand how ISO 9001/2-registered QMSs as well as ISO 14001-registered EMSs are being used in China’s aeronautics sector. In the first part of a 2-part series on the developmental aspects of China’s aerospace and aeronautics sectors in relation to the use of international management system standards, Myhrberg provides background information on China’s aeronautics sector and its evolution and how ISO 9001/2, JIS Q 9100 and ISO 14001 are being/will be applied.
