What Will ISO 9001:2000 Transition Involve?
ISO has confirmed that the ISO 9000 series FDISs will begin
circulating for balloting September 15, 2000. As publication
of ISO 9001:2000 approaches, it is important to understand
that the transition to the 2000 edition of ISO 9001 will be
more complicated than the transition to the 1994 editions
of ISO 9001/2/3. To help you understand what the transition
period will involve, some facts about the transition are examined.
Organizations considering when to update their ISO 9001/2/3:1994-registered
QMSs should take advantage of the transition period to revise
their QMSs to conform with ISO 9001:2000 and gain added
value. A July 9, 2000, communiqué providing details from
the TC 176 meeting in Kyoto is also reprinted.
