Marketplace: 25,000+ Certificates Up for 1st Renewal During Transition

Stewart Anderson writes that many organizations are preparing to "transition" their QMS registrations over to ISO 9001:2000–or should at least be thinking about it. He examines one factor that should be considered when deciding to update–the timing of ISO 9001/2/3:1994 registration renewals among organizations (and competitors) first registered between July 1997 and July 2000. Accredited registrars issued a total of 27,380 new certificates during this 3-year period, and most are from registrars that use a 3-year registration cycle and will come up for renewal during the ISO 9001:2000 transition period.
