FAA Meets With Aerospace Group, AAQG, on AS9100

The AAQG met September 26-28 to deal with issues relating to AS9100 and the AAQG itself. A key issue was the position of the FAA on recognizing AS9100 and continuing to conduct second-party inspections of the quality systems of aerospace primes and their suppliers. Included is information on why the FAA will continue to rely on second-party inspections, efforts between AAQG and the FAA/Transport Canada to promote the use of best practices in quality systems, an FAA letter to the AAQG concerning AS9100 and CFR Part 21 requirements, an update on the AS9100 supplemental standards/documentation and excerpts from CFR Part 21, Subpart G.
