ASQ Forums and Divisions

Automotive — Members include professionals from almost every discipline represented in the vehicle manufacturing and supplier business of the North American automotive industry, including heavy truck, off-highway, agricultural, industrial, and construction equipment industries.

Aviation, Space and Defense — Members are involved in the manufacturing, service, and government sectors of the commercial aviation, defense and space industries. Included are members of the DOD, FAA, and NASA contractors and subcontractors.

Biomedical — Members include medical device manufacturers and users, hospital and healthcare professionals, regulatory personnel, instrumentation producers and users, and government agency personnel, as well as contractors, consultants and suppliers to these groups.

Chemical and Process Industries — Members work in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, metals, paper and pulp, glass and ceramics, plastics, rubber and petroleum. Recognizing that special issues exist for each industry, the division encourages the formation of technical interest groups to serve members in specific industries.

Customer-Supplier — Members represent both service and manufacturing organizations interested in improved supplier performance and increased customer satisfaction. This involves all aspects of supply chain relationships from supplier development (through initial design, development, and product/service realization) to improving customer satisfaction.

Design and Construction — Members seek to improve the quality of service in the architectural/engineering and construction (A/E&C) community.

Education — Members are educators and administrators from the public and private sectors, business professionals and others who want to explore and promote the use of quality principles in all aspects and levels of education.

Electronics and Communications — Members of the Electronics and Communications Division include quality, reliability, telecommunications and communications practitioners. It includes all levels and types of electronic products, as well as major service providers and their suppliers in telecommunications (TL 9000) and communications products and services. All grades of products and services are covered, from commercial to the highest levels in industry. This division will help supply services to its members to help them keep pace with changing technological opportunities in the future.

Energy and Environmental — Members are quality professionals in the fields of energy and environment, including technology and construction, power production, resource extraction and processing, environmental operations, decontamination and decommissioning, waste minimization and pollution prevention, sampling and analysis, and research and development.

Food, Drug, and Cosmetic — Members include quality control and assurance, regulatory and compliance, scientific, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and sales professionals from companies and service organizations concerned with food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and related products.

Government — Members include individuals in state, local and federal government committed to the application of total quality management principles and concepts within the operation of public sector agencies.

Healthcare — Members are providers of healthcare and services, supporters of those providers, and interested others.

Human Development and Leadership — Members include anyone involved in the leading of personnel, or the development of human capability, whether it is at work, in volunteer organizations, or in their communities. Our mission and vision is to provide members with the skills, knowledge, tools and information needed to excel as quality individuals, regardless of their organizational position or area of expertise. We are the human side of quality.

Inspection — Members include management and technical personnel responsible for establishing, developing and performing quality control, quality assurance, auditing and inspection, as well as test methodology and practices.

Lean Enterprise — Members promote the principles and practices of lean concepts with its emphasis on helping businesses in cost reduction, cycle time reduction, waste minimization and value-adding strategies. The Lean Enterprise Division welcomes members from both service and manufacturing companies.

Measurement Quality — Members apply the established rules of quality and statistics to understand and optimize measurement related issues. Members include quality, metrology and instrument specialists who develop, apply and maintain the calibration of measuring equipment and systems. Also included are quality engineers and educators interested in extending measurement principles' use to other disciplines.

Product Safety and Liability Prevention — Members include quality, legal, safety, insurance and consulting professionals responsible for product safety and preventing product liability.

Quality Audit — Members are individuals responsible for auditing the quality elements of management systems, as well as manufacturing and service processes.

Quality Management — Members represent all levels of management including executives, managers, supervisors, team and project leaders, as well as quality professionals aspiring to those positions. They also include educators, facilitators, engineers, consultants, authors and other quality professionals. Services include a quarterly newsletter, an annual conference, educational training, and sponsorship of the Certified Quality Manager examination.

Reliability — Members include quality and reliability engineers and educators concerned with reliability and maintainability in industry and government.

Service Quality — Members are typically involved with the implementation and integration of quality principles and systems in organizations having a service as the primary product. Other members facilitate improvement of service-oriented processes within manufacturing companies.

Six Sigma — Members are quality professionals, from the novice to the experienced, interested in the practice of Six Sigma.  A global, multi-faceted, web-based membership, its mission is to help Six Sigma professionals share knowledge and solutions through access to in-depth articles, case studies, networking, discussion boards and a monthly eNewsletter.

Software — Members include software quality professionals, software engineers and others interested in applying quality principles to the field of software development.

Statistics — Members include quality managers, engineers, statisticians and educators who apply, research, develop and promote statistical methods for quality and productivity improvement.

Team and Workplace Excellence — Members are individual who are dedicated to improving their workplace through quality and participation practices.  The Forum’s belief is that individuals play an integral role in the success of any organization.  We enable this success by bringing people together to share knowledge around teams, facilitation and change management.
