ASQ Mexico to Host Grand Opening Congress
Event to Focus on Quality in Education
Milwaukee, Wis., August 25, 2009 – ASQ (American Society for Quality) will offer a one-day conference titled "First Congress ASQ Mexico: Quality and Education" Thursday, September 10, 2009, at La Hacienda de los Morales, Mexico City, Mexico. The event is part of the ASQ Mexico office grand opening.
The event theme reflects ASQ’s commitment to quality in education worldwide, with the belief that the future depends on our children, and college students receiving the best instruction.
"Quality education is a critical component to the future of Mexico. Improving how teachers educate and students learn by using quality processes will greatly contribute to advancing the quality of education in Mexico," said Robert Chalker, ASQ Global managing director. "This congress serves as a stepping stone for educators to learn from one another."
Presenters and their session topics at the conference include:

- Fernando Padro, professor of educational leadership, Monmouth University, West Long Branch, N.J. – Quality as Philosophy and the Universities
- Marvella Villalobos, Ph.D. Pedagogy, Universidad Panamericana – Competencies for Quality in Education
- Rafael de Arrascaeta, Sistemas de Calidad Educativa – Main Issues Regarding Education in Mexico
Government officials, quality-focused organizations and businesses and local ASQ members are invited to attend. The cost is $95 USD for ASQ members and $115 USD for nonmembers. By establishing greater visibility in Mexico, ASQ hopes to increase the use and impact of quality in response to the diverse needs of Mexico—including the area of education. ASQ will engage, participate and contribute to key national and local state forums, seminars and conferences, specifically to increase awareness of quality methodologies.
