ASQ Offers Two New Free Healthcare Webinars:
Topics Focus on Navigating OPPE Requirements, Top Performing EDs

Milwaukee, Wis., August 17, 2009 — The American Society for Quality (ASQ), invites healthcare professionals to register for two free healthcare webinars; one focused on how senior leaders create top performing emergency departments and the other addressing the challenges of complying with the Joint Commission’s ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) requirements.

What Top Performing Emergency Departments Do: The Role of Senior Leaders in Driving Change
This free webinar is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. CDT and features Chip Caldwell, president, Chip Caldwell & Associates. Caldwell specializes in strategic deployment of clinical and systems quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives in medical centers, extended care facilities, integrated health systems and health plans. The presentation will focus on six differentiators that increase the probability of success, including engagement, lean and a ‘big quality’ approach. Healthcare executives, senior leaders or managers charged with driving emergency room improvements will find opportunities for sustainable gains.  Register for this webinar via ASQ at www.asq.org/webinar/senior-leaders-driving-change.html.

Navigating the Joint Commission OPPE Requirements
As part of ASQ’s Quality Practice Seminar series, this free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. CDT, and is sponsored by Statit Software, a leader in continuous performance improvement solutions for healthcare. Presenter Dr. Christopher Heller, MD, FACS is co-founder of MIDAS+, a company that provides integrated software for quality, care management and physician profiling and is a lean data management consultant with Carondelet Health Network. This informative hour will explore the importance and challenges of OPPE, provide necessary information to complete the OPPE, gain recommendations for physician ‘buy-in’ and ask questions of an OPPE expert. Healthcare professionals can register for this webinar via ASQ at www.asq.org/healthcareqps/index.html.
