ASQ Names Gabelmann Managing Director, Management Committee Chair

Milwaukee, Wis., December 3, 2008 – The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has appointed Julie Gabelmann as managing director, management committee chair. In this newly created position, Gabelmann will provide leadership to ASQ’s management committee, which is made up of four other managing directors. Gabelmann will also develop growth opportunities in ASQ target markets through revenue diversification and enhancement initiatives.

"Quality is a business imperative for senior executives — particularly in today’s economic climate — and I am excited to join the preeminent organization that leads this effort," Gabelmann said. "I look forward to devoting the next chapter of my career to the cause of quality with ASQ."

Gabelmann has more than 20 years of progressive business leadership experience. Most recently, as president of the bank products division of Fiserv, Inc., Brookfield, Wis., Gabelmann was responsible for a multi-million dollar portfolio comprised of several companies that deliver cash management, data warehouse, document imaging and risk management products to the financial services industry. Gabelmann held prior leadership roles at The Hay Group, Philadelphia, Pa.; American Automobile Association, Orlando, Fla. and San Francisco, Calif.; KPMG Peat Marwick, Miami, Fla.; and Southeast Bank, Miami, Fla.

"Julie is one of those wonderful cases of a seasoned senior executive being drawn to an organization with a vision and mission," said Paul Borawski, executive director and chief strategic officer of ASQ. "She is a talented and well-respected business professional, and brings a diverse set of experiences to ASQ."

Gabelmann holds a bachelor’s degree in education from The College of St. Rose, Albany, New York.
