ASQ President’s End of Year Message
The following is a message from Roberto Saco, ASQ president
As 2008 draws to a close, it is a good time to reflect on the year that has passed and the year yet to arrive (all too quickly). It is also another opportunity to give thanks to all of you—all ASQ members, customers, and Web visitors pushing quality to the forefront of your busy work schedules and personal lives.
The six months I have been ASQ president have seen great change for the Society and the world. We are all very aware of the economic crisis and the extra strain it puts on all of us. At times like this it is easy to look inward, to cut ourselves off from the outside world. But as quality practitioners and professionals we know that this is the time to open up, be quick to learn, innovate and adapt. We can only do that by joining together as a community.
While there are many things about the future I cannot predict, there is one thing I can be sure of: ASQ’s 2009 will be a notable year. We will be steps closer to being a global organization. Our education and training system will greatly expand learning opportunities available for individuals and companies.
Other aspects of the future are not so guaranteed. But I still have one hope—that all of us have a successful new year.
Happy New Year to you, your family, and friends.
