Get Involved in ASQ

The MQD was chartered in 1991, having grown from the ASQ's Metrology Technical Committee which was formed in 1972. Over the years, the Technical Committee and now the Division actively participated in national and international standards development, including ISO technical committees TC176 and TC207. Division representatives have contributed to ISO 10012 and ANSI/NCSL Z-540-1; major standards describing the quality system required for measurement and calibration in laboratories, service firms, and manufacturing.

In Sept. 1999 the MQD chartered a committee to develop a certification program for calibration technicians and approved funding for a job analysis survey. ASQ’s Board of Directors approved the proposed program known as the Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) program in May 2002. ASQ offered the 1st CCT exam in June 2003. CCT program development news may be found in past issues of The Standard and via CCT\About CCT \Committee\News
