ASQ Forums & Divisions

ASQ Forums and Divisions are communities of practice led by professionals in your field. Participation is limited to ASQ Members, so join your specific group as a Forum/Division member or select one Forum or Division as part of your Regular ASQ membership.

Automotive: Members include professionals from almost every discipline in the vehicle manufacturing and supplier business in the automotive, heavy-truck, off-highway, agricultural, industrial and construction equipment industries.

Aviation, Space & Defense: Helps members develop professionally within the manufacturing, service and government sectors of the aviation, defense and space industries. The division sponsors two prestigious conferences that provide valuable information and networking opportunities. Also produces three electronic newsletters annually and maintains a timely website.

Biomedical: Members are professionals from engineering, quality and regulatory affairs affiliated with the design, manufacture and support of medical devices, FDA regulations and international standards. They include government agency personnel, contractors, consultants and suppliers.

Chemical and Process Industries: Members work in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, glass and petroleum, and encourage the formation of technical interest groups to serve members in specific industries. Each October the division sponsors the Fall Technical Conference featuring many topics in quality and applied statistics.

Customer-Supplier: A learning community committed to effective supplier performance and increased customer satisfaction. Offers courses, books, papers, newsletter, and meetings.

Design & Construction: Members include architects, engineers, designers, construction managers, contractors, safety engineers, facility managers and other professionals. They exchange information on quality tools and methods used to design and deliver infrastructure projects. The division offers meetings, conferences and a website.

Education: Members include educators and administrators from the public and private sectors, as well as business professionals. The division promotes the use of quality principles and technologies in all aspects of education.

Electronics and Communication: Helps members keep pace with changing technology. Members include quality, reliability, telecommunications and communications practitioners from all levels and types of electrical, electronic products industries, major service providers and their suppliers in telecommunications and communications products and services.

Energy & Environmental: Members work in the fields of energy and environment, including technology and construction, power production, resource extraction and processing, environmental operations, decontamination and decommissioning, waste minimization and pollution prevention, sampling and analysis, and research and development.

Food, Drug & Cosmetics: Members include quality control and assurance, regulatory and compliance, scientific, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales professionals from companies, industry consultants and service organizations concerned with food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and related products.

Government: Members work in local, state and federal government agencies and advocate the use of quality principles and tools to transform the public sector.

Healthcare: Members include direct providers of healthcare services and healthcare support services, as well as professionals in other fields with an interest in healthcare quality. Members include MDs, RNs, medical technologists, healthcare administrators, consultants, auditors and engineers.

Human Development & Leadership: Dedicated to providing members from all fields and positions with the skills, knowledge, tools and information needed to excel as individuals, leaders, teachers, trainers, coaches and mentors. Members include anyone involved in leadership and human development at work, in volunteer organizations, at home, or in the community.

Inspection: Members include management and technicians responsible for establishing and developing inspection and test methodologies, and quality professionals who perform inspections and tests.

Lean Enterprise: Members promote lean principles and practices, including cost reduction, cycle time reduction, waste minimization and value-adding strategies. The Division welcomes members from both service and manufacturing companies.

Measurement Quality: Members apply the principles of quality and statistics to measurement-related issues. They include quality, metrology and instrument specialists who develop, apply and maintain the calibration of measuring equipment and systems; and quality engineers and educators interested in extending measurement principles to other disciplines.

Product Safety & Liability Prevention: Dedicated to helping quality professionals, executives, attorneys, consultants and manufacturing corporations understand product liability prevention and how to incorporate it into their quality systems and efforts. Provides networking, specialized training and professional programs.

Quality Audit: Members focus on auditing systems, processes and products in industry and service organizations including education, health care, social services, associations, government and retail.

Quality Management: Members represent all levels of management including executives, managers, team and project leaders, supervisors and quality professionals aspiring to those positions. Members also include educators, facilitators, engineers, consultants, authors and other quality professionals. Services include a quarterly newsletter, an annual conference, training opportunities and sponsorship of the Certified Quality Manager examination.

Reliability: Provides a forum for networking among members on reliability engineering, management and related topics. We facilitate R & M engineering growth, promote reliability engineering principles and serve as a focal resource on reliability engineering for ASQ, Standards agencies, industry, commerce, government and academia.

Service Quality: Provides members and customers with the knowledge to deploy and integrate quality systems, principles and techniques. Members include representatives of the financial, hospitality, retail, and manufacturing industries. Offers an annual conference, valuable tutorials, and a quarterly newsletter.

Six Sigma: Members are quality professionals, from the novice to the experienced, interested in the practice of Six Sigma. This global, web-based forum offers access to in-depth articles, case studies, networking, discussion boards and a monthly e-newsletter.

Software: Members include software quality professionals, software engineers and others interested in applying quality principles to software development.

Statistics: Members include quality managers, engineers, statisticians and educators who apply, research, develop and promote statistical methods for quality and productivity improvement.

Team and Workplace Excellence: Members are dedicated to improving their workplace through quality and participation practices. The Forum believes individuals play an integral role in the success of any organization, and brings people together to share knowledge around teams, facilitation and change management.
