The Coordinate Measurement Systems Committee (CMSC), an international group of measurement specialists, offers a variety of measurement and metrology resources on its Web site. Measurement news, information on conferences, a long list of links and CMSC membership application materials are among the features of this site. It also includes a link to a free download of Convert 4.10, software that will convert the most popular units of measurement and has the ability to create custom conversions.

As resource for calibration professionals, this site has several directories (providers, training, instrumentation, software, consulting, organizations and supplies) along with a calendar, discussion board, career center and news. A section on calibration and the FDA was recently added.

The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society uses its site to post news on the design and use of instruments, computers and systems for measurement and control. The site offers articles on current issues and standards, international calibration practices and basic key metrology concepts. This site offers a resource center, free downloadable software and full-text articles on manufacturing trends. Its job center is extensive and simple to navigate. The product center not only contains a buyer's guide but gives users the opportunity to request quotes directly from suppliers.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) created this site on measurement traceability (whether the result of a measurement can be related to accepted international or national standards through an unbroken chain of comparisons). It includes NIST's traceability policy, a glossary, answers to frequently asked questions, examples of NIST measurement programs and a traceability checklist for users of calibration services.
