Quality Tools in Action
In January 2009, ASQ’s Healthcare Update newsletter expanded to include an extra monthly edition focusing on tools. This new edition allows members of the ASQ community to share ideas and best practices on quality tools and how they can be used.
We are currently looking for members of the healthcare community to share tools — for both novices and advanced practitioners — that they have found useful, as well as any helpful tips or personal narratives.
Reach thousands of readers all over the world while building your own list of publication credits.
The audience for Healthcare Update is active, engaged and growing quickly. The newsletter also offers one of the fastest cycle times in ASQ publishing.
Suggestions for Submissions:
• Try using one of the downloadable tool templates provided at
www.asq.org/learn-about-quality/tools-templates.html. Write about how you used the template within a specific project. Or offer an idea for improving or expanding the template.
• Have you created your own template for a quality tool that you can’t live without? Write a short description along with instructions, and send it to us for publication.
• Have you seen a particularly creative use of a quality tool in an unexpected setting? Tell us about it.
• What are your top three tips for using a particular quality tool successfully?
Some Guidelines:
• Your submission does not necessarily have to be healthcare specific, but preference will be given to tools that have a clear healthcare application.
• For our online newsletter audience, shorter narratives are usually better. We recommend keeping your submission to about 500 words.
• Please note that Healthcare Update is not a vehicle to promote and sell products and services.

Healthcare Update is a free e-newsletter on quality and healthcare. Each monthly installment of the Quality Tools and Applications edition features a specific tool and includes a template, how-to method or case study with tips for usage or accounts of how the tool is being or could be applied.
