New Publication: Call for Papers

In January, ASQ’s Education Division will launch a new, peer-reviewed online publication, Quality Approaches in Higher Education. This publication, an online-only supplement to Journal for Quality and Participation, will focus on engaging the higher education community on topics related to continuous improvement and quality in higher education.

The editorial team is encouraging authors to submit articles. The call for articles and author guidelines are available at the ASQ Education Division's website.

Baldrige Course Set for March

ASQ’s Baldrige Self-Assessment for Higher Education will take place March 1-2 in Las Vegas.
The course objectives include:

  • Identifying the benefits of applying the Baldrige criteria.
  • Applying the Baldrige values, principles and criteria.
  • Conducting a Baldrige-based self-assessment.
  • Recognizing the value of creating a culture of continuous improvement within educational institutions.

Course activities include large and small group discussions, interactive exercises and completion of a sample self-assessment. Learn more about the course.

ASQ Recommends …

Nancy R. Tague’s The Quality Toolbox, second edition, is a comprehensive reference to a variety of methods and techniques: those most commonly used for quality improvement, many less commonly used and some created by the author and not available elsewhere. Tools are included for generating and organizing ideas, evaluating ideas, analyzing processes, determining root causes, planning and basic data-handling and statistics. StandardANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2008: Quality management systems—requirements specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization:

  • Needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and statutory and regulatory requirements.
