Description of Responsibilities: The Director of Quality is a newly created position designed to provide leadership in the development and implementation of the company-wide quality system. The Company seeks a competitive advantage in their industry through the implementation of a formal quality process as stated in the above mission. The Champion of Quality will be responsible for designing, tailoring and educating the quality team and site management on quality issues, systems and processes that will positively effect bottom line results and increase customer satisfaction. The person in this position will work closely with the company's quality leadership team and develop professional relationships with the company's people throughout the organization, setting an example of highly effective cross-functional leadership. This position reports to the Senior Vice President. Peers include directors in technology, safety, and human resources. Key Accountabilities: To understand the company's Purpose, Vision, Strategies, Values and business operations and develop quality strategies processes and systems which are supportive of the company's quality mission; Provide leadership in the development and hands-on implementation of an industry leading formal quality program and process that is specially designed for the company and advances the company and the industry standard to a higher level of performance; Leverage capabilities of the company's team members while building quality into the pre-construction and construction processes, supplier and sub-contractor relationships that minimize total cost and continually improve communications and efficiencies; Build the quality system through the operations organization using the structures and positions already in place, not by building a separate quality team in each group; Develop and implement a subcontractor and supplier quality integration process that enhances Mortenson's relationship with subcontractors and suppliers and improves the long-term performance for both the company and our supplier partners; Develop a quality-focused culture that integrates with safety and productivity. Longer term objective to help move the company forward with Total Facility Solutions. Communicate progress and results of the quality initiatives to the organization along with key measures of quality effectiveness and efficiency. Attend and speak at construction related seminars and conferences to promote quality throughout our industry. Manage the company's technical library on best practices. Participate in business development activities necessary to communicate and promote our approach to quality for our customers.
