ASQ provides tools and information you can use to demonstrate how quality can improve what an organization does.

And one of the most powerful tools we offer is the case study: a real-world example of quality making a difference.

If you have a quality story to tell, we’d like to share it.

We’re looking for a step-by-step description of a specific project that had a proven, positive impact on your organization. Your case study must include a description of the problem or condition, a specific quality system or tool that was implemented and measurable results.

Why Quality?
Two to four paragraphs on:
•  The problem or opportunity for improvement, including background and previous improvement attempts (some of this may be covered in the previous section)
•  Why and how the project/implementation was selected
•  The process for winning buy-in from stakeholders, upper management, etc.
•  How the project/implementation aligns with organizational strategy, mission or vision
Quality Journey
At least four paragraphs on:
•  The time frame from beginning until end or present time (should be clearly stated up front)
•  The quality practices/methods/processes used
•  Team members and how they were selected
•  Implementation steps, including any organizational culture changes needed
•  Measures used/explain how you measured performance and progress
•  Obstacles—Including resistance to change, resource limitations, etc.
•  What part, if any, ASQ (membership, sections and forum/divisions, books, courses, etc.) played in the quality journey.
Results
At least two paragraphs on:
•  What were results? Identify solutions/outcomes/results, especially bottom-line impact.
•  How are results monitored, evaluated and interpreted?
•  How are results validated?
•  How do results compare to expectations?
•  Describe feedback from stakeholders.
Continuing Commitment to Quality
At least two (or up to six) paragraphs on:
•  How are gains being sustained?
•  Next steps for the project or program?
•  Can the project or program be replicated throughout the organization or at multiple sites?
•  Lessons learned, critical success factors, and/or advice for others?
•  Challenges faced and how they were met?
•  What should have been done differently in hindsight?
•  Overall conclusions, especially about the value of the quality tool or methodology used?
