I think, there is no best or worst way. Preparation strategy depends on your existing knowledge and experience with respect to body of knowledge. Taking a refresher course is a good idea. However, individual preparation is key to the exam success. Now that you know the weak area, you can concentrate more. Concentrate on other areas too.
If you cannot find a refresher course from your section, try ASQ's Certified Quality Engineer self-directed program:
You may want to take a course from: http://www.asq.org/certification/quality-engineer/ then take simulated exams and strengthen the weak areas by reviewing the references mentioned below.
For advanced statistics, I used:
Montgomery, Douglas C., Introduction to Statistical Quality Control, 4th ed., New York: John Wiley and Sons, 2001. ISBN 0471316482 You may also want to consider: Grant, Eugene L., and Richard S. Leavenworth, Statistical Quality Control, 7th ed., New York: McGraw-Hill Publishing Co., 1996. P597
Preparation is the key. Take as much practice as you can before the exam.
Best wishes for your exam, Govind.
