CSD Symposium 2006
Anaheim, California was the setting for our division’s symposium;
warm weather was the experience. The event was not only successful in its
mission, but also enjoyable. Held in Southern California during the longest
month of the year (February), the venue gave many snowbirds the chance to
warm up.
Utilizing the World Café format, the six topic areas were
explored:
- The Future of Quality
- Feedback for Action
- Mass Customization & Product Development
- Supplier Value Chain
- Trust in Customer-Supplier Relationships
- Lean Supply Chain
ASQ’s Executive Director and Chief Strategic Officer, Paul
Borawski, kicked off the symposium speaking to the forces of change
as they impact our professional society and to the recent Future
Study. As with the other sessions, after the presentation individual
tables brought their expertise to the front and moved learnings
forward. The table discussions were provocative and thought provoking.
Participants can review the individual session outputs by going

The plant tours to Alcon and Disneyland were well attended and
helped bring to focus practical applications. Both tours were graciously
hosted by field experts and provided valuable insights into customer-supplier
issues/innovative solutions.
We thank Linda Howe Garriz and the many symposium volunteers that
made this event possible. A year in the making, the symposium was
a valuable community gathering and an infusion of professional
learnings.
