Duke Okes, Certified Quality Manager, CQA, CQE, CQT

Duke is a consultant, educator & trainer, and writer & speaker on management and quality philosophies and technologies. He has been in private practice since 1985, working with organizations in the U.S., Canada, Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. He was formerly a quality professional in TRW’s automotive sector.

He has been elected Fellow of the American Society for Quality, and is certified by ASQ as a quality manager, quality engineer, and quality auditor. He has served as vice chair of technology for ASQ’s Quality Management Division, and chair of the Northeast TN ASQ section, who recognized him with their quality leadership award. He has taught review courses for ASQ’s quality manager, quality auditor, quality technician and quality improvement associate certifications, and served as a subject matter expert for ASQ’s Certified Quality Manager section refresher course materials and self-directed learning materials.

The Institute of Management Consultants has elected Duke as a certified management consultant (C MC). He holds degrees in business, education, and technology, and has served as an adjunct university faculty member teaching statistics and management research for colleges/universities in Tennessee and Virginia. He is also a graduate of the University of Kentucky’s lean manufacturing certificate program, and the international program in the Gestalt approach to organization and system development.

He is co-editor of The Certified Quality Manager Handbook (2 nd edition), a contributor to The Certified Quality Engineer Handbook, and has published numerous articles on topics such as leadership, continuous improvement, lean production, critical thinking, quality auditing, managing organizational change, complexity theory, and e-quality. He is a frequent speaker for professional audiences at the local, regional, national, and international levels, including APICS, ASQ, ASTD, AITP, AOQ, IIA, IMA, NAPM, SHRM, and SME. He also conducts public seminars for a variety of professional societies and universities, has served as a Tennessee Quality Award examiner and as a SCORE counselor to small business, and is listed in “Who’s Who in the World.”
