Peter Merrill
Peter Merrill is an engineer, artist and writer, and one of North America’s foremost authorities on implementation of management systems. He is president of the consulting firm Quest and has implemented quality management systems in companies such as IBM, A.I.G., R.I.M. and Solectron.
Merrill is a member of the Innovation Council of the Conference Board of Canada and a member of the Chairman’s Strategic Advisory Group for the TC176 (ISO 9000) standard of global responsibility for resource management. He was a member of the team that wrote the ISO 9000:2000 standard and the team that wrote the ISO 10006 Quality Management in Projects standard. Presently he is leading the ISO/TC176 International Study Group addressing ‘People Involvement’ in Management Systems.
Merrill previously was a vice president of Philip Crosby Associates, where he earned a reputation for providing the world’s best training in quality management. Merrill achieved the highest-ever rating from participants in a training class.
As chief executive of one of the leading design brands in the United Kingdom, Merrill led a business in one of the most demanding of markets while doubling the size of that business in 18 months.
Merrill also is the author of the book Do It Right the Second Time, and has twice chaired ASQ’sToronto section. He is a graduate of the chemical engineering school of the University of Birmingham in England.
