Two and one-half day Classroom Outline

What is the format of the course?
Blended Six Sigma Training for Healthcare begins with a two and one-half day face-to-face training session where participants are introduced to the concepts and tools of Six Sigma. The classroom training will focus on understanding how Six Sigma is structured, the use and process of DMAIC, project selection and the development of a project charter for an initial Six Sigma project. The training will also provide an introduction to basic project measurement criteria and tools.

Once participants return home they are expected to independently continue learning the fundamental approaches and applications associated with Six Sigma Green Belt requirements. The learning tool that will be made available to students is available on the Internet through a “Continuous Learning Laboratory.” The Laboratory includes both written and audio review of key tactical information that corresponds with the classroom training and assists to complete project requirements. In addition to the online tool, each student has access to a course instructor. Instructors can be contacted by phone or e-mail throughout the entire length of the training event.

Within three weeks of the initial classroom training, students will be expected to have finalized their project charters, conducted at least one team meeting and initiated project measurement discussions. All students will be convene together during an online Webinar that will focus on the Define and Measure tactical requirements of the Six Sigma process. More specifically, the instructor will review strategies and techniques to remove barriers to project success. Frequently asked questions about Define and Measure that are best addressed once projects are underway will also be reviewed. The Webinar can additionally serve as an environment in which specific project questions can either be addressed, or a one-on-one meeting with an your instructor can be planned.

Following another three-week timeframe, students will again convene via an online Webinar to review the Analyze, Improve and Control tactical requirements of the Six Sigma process. Much like the first Webinar, the session will focus on resolving issues encountered during project completion and frequently asked questions about project finalization. Additionally, strategies for managing cultural issues associated with the implementation and ongoing management of improvements will also be reviewed.

Will the program use computer technology or other technology?
Yes. Each participant will receive a personal login for use of the online training provided as part of this course. This tool will also include a statistical application to support related project work conducted during the training program.

Will texts be used, workbooks, other materials?
Yes. A workbook will be supplied to support classroom and online learning activities
