SOAR Project Office Charter (PDF, 28 KB)

From: Grace Duffy
Subject: SOAR Project Office status report

The projects are into the research phase!!!

The Architecture team has the SOAR Sharepoint site loaded with meeting minutes, working charter documents, links and contacts. The Chair of the SAC and DAC have been added to the authorized list for access to the Sharepoint information. The project GANTT charts are available to all team members for milestone and activity update.
The Low Hanging Fruit and Already in the Works items identified during the October Summit have all been assigned and either completed, allocated to a process owner, or discontinued for specific reason. There are some small glitches related to Sharepoint access which are being addressed immediately.

The Communications Team is distributing a log to major member unit leaders to gather data on communication channels for the "As Is" picture. This log will is to be filled out for a month and then returned to the committee for analysis. An advanced notice has gone out to member leaders introducing the log and its purpose. The team leaders are working diligently to maintain an appropriate scope to this initiative. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish what communication issues came directly from the Summit in October and what is tangential to that event. The leadership's discipline is impressive.

The Education and Training Team will hold a brainstorming session in Milwaukee on February 22 and 23. An invitation was sent to a broad cross-section of stakeholders to help assemble and understand the dynamics of the current system and explore visions for a future system. The team leadership invited stakeholders from sections, divisions and forums, the ASQ Education and Training Board, ASQ instructors, other training providers, thought leaders in education and training, and ASQ's staff. RSVPs are currently coming into the ASQ Executive Office. Some invitees are concerned about the short notice of this session. Conversation with these individuals has allowed them to understand the tight turn around time for recommendations to the Board by May in Milwaukee.

The QBOK® Team is using the existing research and analysis from the larger QBOK® efforts to leverage their efforts to provide appropriate input channels from Divisions and other content groups into the overall Quality Body of Knowledge. The leadership of the QBOK® Summit Outcomes Team is part of a 45 minute presentation to the Board of Directors in Orlando this month.

The SOAR Project Office leadership is engaged in ongoing conversations with major stakeholders throughout ASQ to identify and minimize barriers to the success of each Key Theme Team.

Jerry Mairani, President of ASQ, and Grace Duffy, ASQ Vice President and Co-Chair of the SOAR Project Office will share the draft charters from the 3 Key Theme Teams with the Board of Directors during a 15 minute slot at the February meeting in Orlando. Karla Reisinger and Paul Borawski are summarizing the 3 Key Theme purpose, objectives, and milestones, along with current status of Low Hanging Fruit and Already in the Works into a PowerPoint file for the Board meeting.

I ask that all members of the SOAR leadership team provide their corrections to this status report. Thank you for all your excellent efforts. Let me know what I can do to support you.

Respectfully submitted;

Grace Duffy
