Welcome to the Environmental Microbiology Network!
The environmental microbiology network is designed to enable discussion between microbiologists in the environmental field, those interested in ensuring the quality of the laboratory activities, and those involved with auditing environmental microbiology laboratories.
The awareness of quality within the testing and research microbiology laboratory is essential both to laboratory management and to all those involved with different laboratories activities ranging from the lead microbiologist to the media preparation technician to the field sampler to the laboratory design engineer.
The awareness of assessment organizations and their assessment processes is also essential as each may have different accreditation or certification requirements or standards which may or may not be thoroughly expressed in writing. Auditors also represent diverse group of individuals with varying experiences and responsibilities in these assessment organizations. A problem can ensure with the auditor’s or the laboratory’s interpretation of the standard and the addition of elements that someone thinks should be done but which is not stated.
