How is the ECQ network different from ASQ’s Making the Case for Quality website?
They are related. This network is open to both ASQ members and visitors. Through the ECQ network, ASQ seeks to utilize the knowledge and experience of quality leaders and share their insight into quality tools, technology, and concepts that will effectively, efficiently, and visibly demonstrate the value of quality to organizations and their executives.

The information found on ASQ’s Making the Case for Quality includes basic information about the program and links to ASQ’s quality body of knowledge (Q-BoKTM).

How can I participate in the ECQ program?
There are a few ways you can participate in the program. First, material has been developed for the ECQ program and made available to the general public. You can find that material on the ASQ website. This material can be used to help demonstrate to your organization how instituting a quality management system can make a difference in your industry. You’ll find a collection of tools and guidelines to help you make the case for quality. This material is available for all members, customers, and the general public to use. We call this our Response Approach.

Another way is through your local ASQ Section or a participating ASQ Division. We currently have 18 Sections and about 10 Divisions that have agreed to participate in our Target 1 ECQ program that we call our Sustained Approach.

This program is aimed at reaching executives from companies whose annual revenues are <$500 million. Materials, including phone scripts, FAQ’s, PowerPoint presentations, and case studies have been developed for Section teams to use. Each participating Section has an ECQ SharePoint website that they can use to manage the program. Go to the announcements area for a list of participating Section and/or Divisions.

Another option is to help find and/or develop ECQ case studies. One of the most requested resources in helping quality practitioners prove the economic case for quality to C-level executives is case studies. If you have any experience in this area, please submit a case study.

Our Target 2 effort is aimed at reaching executives from companies whose annual revenues are greater than $500 million. Through CEO level, quality advocates, we are holding face-to-face events to get senior level executives talking about Quality. If you'd like to know more about this, contact the ECQ Program Leader Rebecca Marquardt at rmarquardt@asq.org.
