About

This network is open to both ASQ members and visitors. Through the Economic Case for Quality® Network, ASQ seeks to utilize the knowledge and experience of quality leaders and share their insight into quality tools, technology, and concepts that will effectively, efficiently, and visibly demonstrate the value of quality to organizations and their executives.

The main objective of the ECQ program and this network is to provide those who work in the field of quality with ideas, answers, and best practices to help their organization make better business decisions and perform more effectively. By turning quality conversations into language that senior executives understand, the use of quality and its role in leading world-class organizations in today’s tough economy will become apparent.

Ultimately, changing the perception that today’s executives have about quality and the profession is a key objective. A 2004 survey of 600 executives revealed that although 99% of those polled believe that quality contributes to the bottom-line, only 64% believe quality is a management tool. In addition, 60% measure the economic impacts of business process improvement initiatives, with the manufacturing segment most likely to do so. Today’s “quality” varies slightly from yesterday and with the decisions faced by many executives in the present day, the linkage between quality practices and how his/her organization will perform is not clear.

Whether these practices are called quality, performance excellence, process improvement, continuous improvement, total quality management, or something else, our goal is to help executives understand how to use these strategies to improve the bottom line and increase customers’ satisfaction. The sharing of applicable case studies, information about what’s important to CEO’s and other senior level executives, and how to measure the return on the quality investment, is critical.
