The Baldrige for Healthcare Network (BHN) is open to both ASQ members and visitors to the Network. The BHN provides an opportunity to participate in a learning community that is designed to help individuals and organizations share knowledge and practical solutions on how to best deploy Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence in healthcare organizations. The BHN is designed to provide an interactive experience to help facilitate learning and exchange.

Goals of the BHN:

• Provide information & resources about best practices in deploying Baldrige criteria.
• House knowledge bases to which members can contribute their work and findings
• Facilitate interaction between colleagues engaged in similar work and tackling similar challenges
• Provide access to experts who may be able to clarify issues and provide references
• Provide a forum to raise Baldrige implementation questions and a vehicle to provide answers to questions
• Connect colleagues who might want to collaborate on a project.
• Help participants learn from colleagues within the healthcare industry as well as colleagues from other industries.
• Demonstrate how deployment of Baldrige can result in improved quality of care to patients and customers

BHN Origins
On April 12th at the Quest for Excellence Conference – The Official Conference of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, thirty-eight individuals representing healthcare organizations from across the country participated in a Café Focus Group and provided input on desired qualities for a developing Baldrige for Healthcare Community. A summary of the feedback provided in the Café Focus group is now available and this feedback is one of the inputs being used to shape the BHN Network.

Additional Resources
In addition to this network, ASQ makes available numerous other healthcare quality resources for the quality professional. The Healthcare Division of ASQ is a membership community of practice that encourages research, innovation, and the formation of learning partnerships to advance knowledge of healthcare quality. Members include providers of healthcare and services, supporters of the providers, and others allied to the field.
