About Quality Supports and Services for Persons with Disabilities Community
ANCOR, the American Network of Community Options and Resources, is a nonprofit trade association representing over 800 private provider agencies and 47 state provider associations nationwide that collectively provide quality supports and services to more than 385,000 people with disabilities and employ over 300,000 full- and part-time direct support staff. ANCOR is distinguished in this industry by its balance of leading models of practice resources and advocacy on behalf of private providers and the people and families they serve and support.
ANCOR’s efforts in the area of public policy, federal legislative and regulatory initiatives, judicial results, state-level initiatives and the culling of models of practice have uniquely positioned it as the national leader and representative of private providers. Congress and federal agencies turn to ANCOR as the authority in our profession. ANCOR's Mission is to empower providers and people with disabilities to celebrate diversity and effect change that ensures full participation.
ANCOR's Vision is to be the premier provider association creating a world that values the full participation of all stakeholders.
The purposes of ANCOR are to:
- Serve as an accurate and timely source of critical information and technical support for members.
- Provide leadership in the development and provision of innovative high quality services and supports in the private sector.
- Provide members with an influential and respected voice with the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the federal government.
- Communicate with and assist the membership through formal outreach and other special services.
- Help develop strong networks, advocate and raise awareness among members, related organizations and the general public.
- Provide training and educational opportunities for members.
- Form and nurture partnerships that promote self-determination and empowerment.
