What does the “status” message on my certification notice mean?

“Approved” – Your application to take a certification exam has been approved. You'll receive the exam location information via e-mail two to three weeks before the exam.

“Hold” – Your application has not been approved because we have questions about your application. Please contact a certification coordinator at 800-248-1946 (United States and Canada only) or 414-272-8575, or cert@asq.org.

“Certification Date” – Congratulations! You passed the exam. If there is a “Recertify by” date listed, you will need to recertify that certification by that specified date.

“Failed” – Unfortunately, you did not pass the exam. You will receive a breakdown of your results by mail. You can retake the exam at the retake rate within two years of your last attempt.
