Keynote - Spencer Hutchens

Spencer Hutchens

Spencer Hutchens, Jr. is the senior vice president of RAM Consulting.  He was formerly the President of Intertek Testing Services.  He has held key positions in the American Society for Quality. (ASQ), including President, Vice President, Chairman of the Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles Sections, and Chairman of the Government Relations Committee.  He also served as President of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Consortium and was a Senior Baldrige Examiner.  He is past Chairman of the Aviation and Space Division of ASQ.

Mr. Hutchens is a Fellow of ASQ and holder of both the Quality Engineer and Reliability Engineer Certificate issued by the Society, as well as a registered Professional Engineer and member of the College of Fellows in the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering.  He serves on the advisory boards of the University of California at Dominguez Hills and UCLA.  He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB).  He is also an Academician in the International Academy for Quality, and organization of international professionals dedicated to creating and improving quality standards.

Prior to his position with Intertek Testing Services, Mr. Hutchens held a number of positions with the federal government.  He has twice been awarded the Defense Logistics Agency Meritorious Service Award and was twice awarded the Defense Logistics Agency Exceptional Civilian Service Award, the highest award given by the agency.  He received the Benjamin L. Lubelsky Award in recognition of his out-standing contributions to quality control in the state of California.  He also received a meritorious award from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mr. Hutchens received a Masters of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from the American Institute of Technology.  He also attended DePaul and George Washington universities.  He has authored many publications and been active as a speaker in international conferences which include the Ninth International Conference of the Israel Society for Quality Assurance in Jersusalem, the 38th European Organization for Quality Annual Congress held in Lisbon, Portugal, and most recently the International Conference on Quality held in Yokohama, Japan.

He is listed in Who\'s Who in Government and Who\'s Who in the World, and he was a member of the Los Angeles Olympic Committee.  Hutchens is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Young Golfers of America Association.
