ASQ Mounts Campaign to Encourage President Bush to Attend Baldrige Award Ceremony
MILWAUKEE WI, December 6, 2007 — ASQ has begun a grassroots letter-writing campaign to encourage President George W. Bush to attend the next Baldrige Award ceremony and personally present the awards to the recipients.
Keeping with tradition, President Bush presented the awards in 2000, 2001 and 2003. In four out of the last five years, however, the vice president has stood in for the president at the ceremony.
“The president’s participation in the ceremony adds to the luster of the Baldrige Award, whose recipients represent the best of America,” said ASQ President Mike Nichols.
ASQ is coordinating efforts among various groups and organizations to send this message to the White House. ASQ members—and all others who support the Baldrige Award program—are encouraged to participate. Visit the Advocacy Room on ASQ’s Web site to quickly and easily send a letter to the president.
