It’s been said that there is nothing more constant than change.  Add to that truth, that the rate of change is accelerating, and you can easily conclude that any organization not spending time looking into the future is likely to be taken by surprise when the future arrives.  Anticipating the future of quality is a strategic advantage for ASQ. 

ASQ has conducted five Futures Studies – in 1995, 1999, 2002, 2005, and 2008. The studies comprise three major components.

1. Identify the key forces that are most likely to shape the future of quality.
2. Develop alternative scenarios describing how these forces might unfold.
3. Determine implications for organizations in the quality field, for quality professionals, and ultimately for ASQ.
